Build Your GEWKC Agenda: How to Attend KC’s Free 2020 Entrepreneurship CelebrationDavid Cawthon
Global Entrepreneurship Week – Kansas City kicks off Nov. 16-20, and we’ve got an awesome experience lined up for you.
We know small businesses need all of our support right now, so we’ve combined our typical GEWKC Community Events with GEWKC Prime-Time Events to feature experts across the greater KC region and throughout the Midwest who can help strengthen your business and show you how to position it for resilience for the future, right now.
Here are some big questions some of you are asking about this year:
How much does GEWKC cost to attend?
Zero. Zip. Nada. Nothing. IT’S FREE.
Like GEWKC always has been, it won’t cost you anything to attend either Prime-Time Events or Community Events. The exchange of ideas, connections, tips, tricks and inspiration is all here this year, like it always has been, at no cost to you.
You should know that registration and attending the event will be a little different this year. Here’s what you need to know:
How do I attend GEWKC 2020?
While there won’t be a physical GEWKC base camp or check-in table, your free ticket to the week starts by registering and building your agenda at Global Entrepreneurship Week – Kansas City.
The agenda is still located at gewkc.org. Just select the Prime-Time Events and Community Events you’d like to attend and build your agenda for the week.
What’s the difference between Prime-Time Events and Community Events?
This year, GEWKC is divided into two kinds of events: virtual Prime-Time Events as well as in-person and virtual Community Events.
GEWKC Prime-Time Events are free and open to anyone, anywhere. These events cover six tracks, which cover topics that entrepreneurs told us they need help with, and will take place via an interactive platform (this ain’t your corporate Zoom call), from Nov. 17-19 during these hours:
Tues. Nov. 17, 1 – 5 p.m.
Wed. Nov. 18, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Thurs. Nov. 19, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
You’ll need an invitation to access the virtual platform. How do you get that? Just register and add at least one Prime-Time Event to your custom agenda before Nov. 17 to get your all-access pass to GEWKC Prime-Time.
Make sure to also build your profile on the virtual PheedLoop platform, as that reserves your seat to GEWKC Prime-Time. If you do not complete your profile on Pheedloop, your seat might be released. There are a limited number of seats on the GEWKC virtual platform on PheedLoop.
GEWKC Community Events are also free and will take place either in-person or virtually within six tracks, Nov. 16-20, but not during Prime-Time Event hours. These events are hosted by business and community leaders across the region and are intended to provide more intimate networking and “after-hours” programming that cover a wider range of topics.
You’ll need to add any events you want to attend to your GEWKC Agenda to access any links to the virtual live stream and to make sure a spot is reserved for you at any onsite meetings.
How do I access the virtual GEWKC Prime-Time Events?
Although there’s no physical base camp this year, we have a super cool interactive virtual platform that’ll serve as the hub for this year’s Prime-Time Events. Anyone, anywhere can attend, which opens up KC’s biggest celebration of entrepreneurship to even more entrepreneurs and small business owners.
To attend a Prime-Time Event and gain access to the central GEWKC virtual platform, just register for at least one event that’s marked as a Prime-Time Event before Nov. 17. That will trigger the system to send you your personal and unique email invite to the virtual platform.
The invitation code will let you to build your profile within the platform to easily connect with and converse with hosts and other attendees.
What topics do Prime-Time Events cover?
This entire year, we’ve talked to you on the phone and fielded your emails and online requests about what your business is facing right now. We also surveyed hundreds of businesses to see what you need right now. We’ve taken your feedback and built events around key topics to help your business right now, when you need it most.
Prime-Time Events cover key topics, like:
starting a business
developing a marketing strategy
preparing for funding and financing
mental health and wellness for entrepreneurs
But not all events will be on the Prime-Time virtual platform.
How do I attend GEWKC Community Events?
Community Events will also be added to the GEWKC agenda at gewkc.org. These events are hosted by the community, for the community so each event has a unique virtual link or physical address. To attend a Community Event, simply add it to your custom agenda. This will ensure you see event details and that the host can send updates to you about how to attend their in-person or virtual event.
Check the site periodically, until Nov. 13, as Community Events will be approved and added on a rolling basis until that date.
Can I see all Prime-Time Events and Community Events in one place?
Yes, all GEWKC Prime-Time Events and Community Events are all on one agenda at gewkc.org. The schedule you build there will show you when and where all events you add to your custom agenda are happening. Events are broken down by day, listed in chronological order, color coded and placed in searchable tracks.
