New Free Legal Clinic for Kansas City Nonprofits and Small Businesses

We hear a lot of questions from KC business owners like you about legal issues facing your businesses. Now, here’s your chance to get some answers at no cost to you.

Stinson law firm will host a free, virtual legal clinic June 16 (that’s a Wednesday) for nonprofits and small businesses in the Kansas City metro and Wichita.

Nonprofits and small businesses can apply for limited-scope legal assistance to:

  • develop appropriate policies in response to COVID-19
  • assess governance systems, policies and procedures
  • review a section of your employee manual
  • review leases or agreements
  • discuss steps to protect intellectual property
  • navigate other legal issues facing your organization

Clinic applications must be submitted online and are due May 19 (a Wednesday). Nonprofits and small businesses can apply here.

Applications will be screened for conflicts of interest and to ensure that the legal assistance requested is appropriate for a limited service clinic setting. Because staffing is limited, it is possible that not all applicants will be selected to participate in the clinic. Nonprofits serving low-income clients and nonprofits and small businesses who lack access to legal counsel will get priority. Applicants selected to participate will be notified by early June.

All applicants are invited to participate in the Client Information Session. Applicants who are paired with a legal team are invited to stay for a legal consultation with a Stinson LLP attorney and an attorney from the Mid-America Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel. The legal team will assess your organization’s legal needs and provide limited scope advice and guidance.
