Kansas Secretary of State

The Kansas Secretary of State operates the Business Filing Center, which registers business entities, trademarks and handles trade names and liens made pursuant to the Uniform Commercial Code.

About

The Kansas Secretary of State is a ministerial filing office that files business entity documents and uniform commercial code documents and makes them available to the public. Documents to form a business entity (i.e. articles of incorporation, certificate of limited partnership, etc.) are filed with the secretary of state, and subsequent filings, such as amendments, mergers, dissolutions and annual reports, may also be filed with the SOS. The SOS does not offer business advice and does not regulate companies. Persons forming business entities and filing documents with the SOS must seek financial or legal advice from a professional.
