The Homelessness Intervention Ecosystem of Greater Kansas City: Insights from Our Recent Research
Wednesday, August 16, 2023 (8:30 – 9:30am)
Homelessness is a pervasive and persistent problem for Kansas City, as it is across the US. There are hundreds of programs and agencies working in our region to address one or more aspects of the problem, yet few know how many actually are at work or what it is they are doing to help intervene in this complicated and wicked problem. For the past two years, the Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership at UMKC has been engaged in an extensive “ecosystem research project,” a project designed to identify and describe the characteristics of all of the programs and agencies in Greater Kansas City that say they are working to deal with one or more aspects of homelessness. This unique Navigation Series session will present the key results and findings of this research. We will offer deeper insights into the scope and nature of the “system” and explore some of the implications for those striving to end homelessness in our region.
