The North Kansas City Business Council was formed in 1994 to provide better communication between the hundreds of businesses in North Kansas City and the City of North Kansas City. The Business Council functions much like a Chamber of Commerce but membership is restricted to businesses with a location in North Kansas City.
Principal services by the Business Council are to communicate discussions and decisions by the City Council, to be familiar with all city department heads in order to guide businesses with concerns and needs to the right decision-makers. The Business Council also provides networking and marketing opportunities for its members with monthly lunch programs and other events. Frequent communications are provided by e-mail as well as a printed newsletter every two months.
The North Kansas City Business Council is very active in promoting workforce development and economic development, particular in conjunction with the Northland CAPS program and the 1 Million Cups/Northland program.
