AltCap is a catalyst for investments in Kansas City and parts of greater western Missouri's low- to moderate-income communities. We use innovative financing products, targeted economic development programming, and the development of strategic partnerships to promote economic growth and empowerment.


AltCap has modified its Fast Start Loan (up to $20,000) to help meet the immediate capital needs of entrepreneurs and small businesses.

Features of the Fast Start Loan include:

  • Shorter processing time (48 hours) 
  • Interest rate is 5% for first 12 months (interest only first 3 months); 8% after 12 months
  • No payments for first 30 days
  • 1% loan origination fee
  • 1 - 3 year loan term
  • No pre-payment penalties  

    To qualify for Fast Start, applicants should have: 

  • Business in good standing
  • Debt-to-Credit (DTC) ratio <=50% 
  • Income verification (past 3 months of bank statements and past 2 years of tax returns)

NEW MARKETS TAX CREDITS (NMTC) facilitated financing is available for operating businesses as well as real estate entities that are considering making a significant investment in AltCap's service area. Significant job creating capital investments by a business (e.g. facility expansion or equipment/machinery purchase) or catalytic commercial, industrial, mixed-use, or community development project that represents at least $5-6 million in investment are eligible for nontraditional, flexible financing through the NMTC Program. FACADE IMPROVEMENT LOAN PROGRAM (FILP) loans are available for commercial/retail properties along major commercial corridors in AltCap's service area. Initially targeting Independence Avenue, Truman Road, Troost Avenue, and Prospect Avenue, the FILP is designed to provide nontraditional, flexible financing to commercial/retail property owners wanting to make improvements to their properties to increase business activity for their tenants as well as help beautify their communities. The DIVERSIFIED CONTRACTORS GROWTH FUND (DCGF) is specifically designed to assist M/W/DBE certified trades contractors in the commercial and multi-family construction industry. The WORKSHOP IN BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES (WIBO) 16-Week Workshop: How to Build a Growing Profitable Business is a peer led business training program designed to give entrepreneurs and existing small business owners the skills and confidence to make sound decisions.
