About
Summit Technology Academy is an innovative, national model that revolutionizes the way juniors and seniors in high school prepare for high-wage, high-demand professional careers.
For instance, one of STA’s signature programs called Missouri Innovation Campus offers the country’s most accelerated degree path of its kind. MIC is a unique collaboration between STA, Metropolitan Community Colleges and University of Central Missouri, which allows students to begin a bachelor’s degree as a junior in high school with three years paid work experience in a high-demand career field, bridging the gap between skills and KC workforce demands.
In fact, STA programs have been recognized by former President Barack Obama, former Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon and many other government and business leaders for its ability to provide rigorous programs of study that blend classroom instruction with real-world, hands-on experiences with over 200 business and industry partners.
STA was also honored as an exemplar school in 2016 by The Partnership for 21st Century Learning for STA’s exemplary 21st century and innovative learning practices in preparing students for success in college, career and life.
STA is the first secondary school in Missouri to earn this very prestigious distinction. Many schools, businesses and organizations from the U.S. and from around the world visit STA each year.
STA programs follow a national curriculum model used in industry, such as the Cisco Networking Academy and PLTW. All STA courses are aligned to a college-level curriculum, and many STA programs also offer industry-recognized credentials.
