Maximizing performance is a top-down activity. The company is guided by a vision of where it should go and what it should become. Activities at every level of the organization should move the organization toward that vision (future expectation).
For that to happen, everyone’s activities must be in sync with the vision. If they are not, people may be working diligently but not necessarily in line with company expectations. Their personal performance may be effective but only from the perspective of the individual employee.
