6-7pm: Democracy Is Indigenous –
A conversation on the history of democracy, the importance of voting, the Native American Voting Rights Act, and the work of the Kansas City Indian Center. Speakers will be:

7-8pm: The Legacy of John Lewis and the History of Black Voter Registration in America. – Join us for an enlightening presentation that delves into the profound legacy of John Lewis and the pivotal history of Black voter registration in America. This session will explore Lewis’s relentless fight for equality, his courageous leadership during the struggle for voting rights, and his lasting impact on American democracy. We will trace the historical milestones of Black voter registration, examining the barriers faced, the legislative victories achieved, and the ongoing challenges that persist today. Through historical analysis, personal anecdotes, and powerful visuals, we aim to honor the sacrifices made by Lewis and countless others while inspiring renewed commitment to the fight for voting rights. This presentation is a tribute to the enduring spirit of John Lewis and the indomitable quest for justice and equality in America.
