SESSION INFO

Session I

  • BioFinance 101: industry leaders, investors, and biotechnology business development experts discuss financing, capital needs, sources of capital, and startup-to-growth planning opportunities
  • Basic & Translational Biology: the most recent advancements in bioscience research from cutting-edge universities and laboratories across the region.
  • Biosecurity & Biodefense: hear from experts in biosecurity, biodefense, and biosafety about new and emerging challenges and threats, and innovative new research, solutions, and strategies.
  • Biomanufacturing & Bioinfrastructure: experts in a diverse array of biomanufacturing technologies and approaches will discuss new advances, current trends, and emerging opportunities.
  •  Bioscience in the Community: a session highlighting outreach that brings science, technology, engineering, art, and math out to the community in new and engaging ways.

Panel & Audience Discussion

  • Innovation in the Large Company Context: a discussion by bioscience and technology experts about the value, strategies, and approaches to innovation as a key business activity within the context of larger companies.
  • Where are they now? hear from past BioKansas Pitch competitors and other startup companies and founders about their journey, their progress, and their strategies for success.
  • Intellectual Property & Technology Transfer: professionals in intellectual property, patent law, licensing, and technology transfer will discuss their strategies, perspectives, and unique challenges and opportunities.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Innovation (DEI3): a panel discussion about the importance of DEI as a principal of innovation; and strategies for overcoming the challenges, barriers, and biases that undermine DEI3

STEAM Gallery & Brewseum

  • STEAM Gallery: featuring local artists’ creations and the latest cutting-edge research from across the region: make your mark with interactive group art installations.
  • Brewseum: celebrate the fermentation industry, take part in sensory activities, and taste the biosciences (must be 21+ with valid ID to participate).

Session II

  • Innovation in Agriculture: the latest advances in agricultural science, new products and concepts, and strategies for sustainable agricultural growth.
  • CROs at the Cutting-Edge: hear from regional contract research and contract development and manufacturing organizations about new trends,  resources, challenges, and opportunities for R&D.
  • NSF Engines & Tech Hubs: an informational session to update on the most recent developments and plans for the regional economic development proposals for NSF Engines and Tech Hubs
  • Advances in Bioengineering: the latest science and newest advances in biological engineering, tissue engineering, drug delivery, nanotechnologies, and more.
