International Marketing Research

Tuesday, March 7 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm • Organized By Kansas Department of Commerce: International Division
Online Event

About

Do you have a product or service that you could sell to the world, but you don’t know which country might be your next best market?

This interactive presentation will be two-fold: We offer a demonstration of a number of publicly available, powerful international trade resources and how they can be used in international market research, including the creation of a weighted scorecard to deliver actionable market intelligence to small businesses who wish to expand their reach abroad.

This type of research can take anywhere from half a day to 2+ days to accomplish. Business owners often don’t have that kind of time, though, so we will show you a 1-2-3 system, recently used by SBDC advisors for the Kansas City World Trade Center’s Heartland Export Accelerator program, for delivering concise results and actionable direction in under an hour. Seminar participants and presenters will work together to determine a product’s HTS (commodity) code, utilize the ITC Trade Map to gain insights on imports of that product around the world, and then narrow that list down to the top 5 using MSU’s Global Edge Country Comparator, based upon parameters and indicators chosen by attendees in real time.

A bonus round will be a review of the US Commercial Service’s Country Commercial Guides, industry-specific articles from the International Trade Administration and the Global Trade Helpdesk.

In an hour, you can create a rationale for which country or countries to explore and a road map, too! This seminar is intended for SME business owners and their advisors.
