About
The Entrepreneurs is a casual one-hour coffee talk where successful Kansas City Entrepreneurs will talk about their business journeys – the challenges, the hard work, the failures, the successes – answer questions, and make it real. Come learn about local entrepreneurs and their pathways to small business success. Hosted by SCORE Kansas City’s Chapter Chair, Karen Squires Foelsch, our guest will be Barb Shatto, President/CEO of the Shatto Milk Company. It all started in the late 1800’s – three generations ago – when Minnie Porter married George Winstead. The married couple bought and began farming the land that is now home to Shatto Milk Company. In 2001, Barbara (a descendent of George and Minnie Winstead) and Leroy Shatto began investigating the idea of bottling the milk from their small herd of cows. They wanted to provide the people of Kansas City and St. Joseph with the freshest, best-tasting milk on the market. Milk straight from their local family farms, that is. On June 4, 2003, Shatto Milk Company made its first farm-fresh delivery to retail stores in the Kansas City metro area. Leroy and Barbara’s dream came true – the family farm was saved.
