Joshua Erickson grew up in North Idaho with a generous helping of outdoor activities. After high school, he lived in Mexico for two years on a mission for his church, becoming fluent in Spanish. He later studied Portuguese while earning a BA in Latin American Studies from Brigham Young University.
His international interest helped him meet his wife, and he is a proud father of three children. The same international focus eventually led him to his current position with the Rural Export Center.
Erickson became a Market Research Analyst in the recently-established Rural Export Center after having worked for two years as an Export Assistant in the Commercial Service office in Fargo, North Dakota.
During his time as an Export Assistant, he helped develop trainings on international market research and website globalization, coordinate international visitor outreach for the Big Iron Farm Show, and research international markets for U.S. companies.
He is earning a master’s degree in International Agribusiness, having already earned an MBA from North Dakota State University.
