The Kansas City Cybersecurity-Technology Mentoring and Career Symposium hosted by Dr. Cheryl Cooper Women in Security Mentors Inc., partnering with Lisa Oyler, Tammy Buckner, and Krina Snider, is an event to encourage women, minorities and underrepresented youth and adults to pursue careers in STEM through mentoring and networking. During the symposium attendees will participate in workshops and simulations designed to provide insight and learn to harness new technologies to confront tomorrow’s technology challenges. Food and swag!

  • Hispanics, Latinos and African Americans only make up 9% of STEM careers and women make up only 21% of cyber security professionals.
  • While women constitute almost 50% of the labor market, there are only 28% of women in STEM fields as opposed to 72% of men.
  • In 2021, experts project that there will be 3.1 million cybersecurity jobs. Of those jobs, approximately 300,000 are available in the United States.
