In the early stage, leaders are fulfilling the role of worker because that is the role that is needed to build the business. The role is comfortable to them as their technical skills and knowledge are needed and desired. However, they may never have been trained to be a leader or even a manager. As a result, leaders do not have the knowledge and skills to take the company to the next level. As the business grows, the leaders must change their roles and adjust the time spent on different responsibilities.
