Developing Strong Need Statements for Grant Proposals

Thursday, May 16 @ 8:30 am - 10:00 am • Organized By Nonprofit Connect
125 East 31st Street, in the Community Room, KCPT Building (Located under the big red tower), Kansas City, MO 64108

About

In every grant proposal, the writer must show the importance of their target population's needs, problems, and challenges with data and heart.  Join us to learn how to set up your argument with facts and stories to convey this urgency in a competitive market.  You'll learn about:
  • data sources including the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey,
  • proposal-writing tones and formats for presenting data,
  • appropriate uses of visuals to highlight data,
  • the challenges of presenting data in online applications,
  • and community needs assessments.
In addition, we will discuss how to appeal to the heart of the grant review without providing a long, detailed client story. Lastly, we'll address the importance of the connection between the need section and the program and evaluation sections of your proposal to ensure logical links between the elements of the grant.
