This class introduces concepts from Alex Osterwalder’s (Strategyzer) Business Model Generation and Value Proposition Design. The Business Model Canvas is a visual chart of a company’s or product’s value proposition, infrastructure, customers and finances. The Value Proposition Canvas is a visual tool to help understand customer needs in order to design (or redesign) products and services they want. This workshop provides an overview of these two tools to help entrepreneurs as well as established businesses examine the needs of their customers to design new or refine existing products and services which fit. At its simplest, these tools help define why you’re in business, or want to go into business, and what problem(s) you are trying to solve and how.
Your instructor, Karen Squires Foelsch, a former corporate senior vice president has worked in manufacturing, scientific and educational arenas. She holds an executive MBA, has been trained by Strategyzer on the Business Model Canvas (BMC), and mentors for the National Science Foundation Innovation Corps Site program using the BMC.
