Navigating the Multi-Generational Workplace

Wednesday, July 25 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm • Organized By Nonprofit Connect
125 East 31st Street, Kansas City, MO 64108

About

With a workforce comprised of four very different generations, today’s nonprofit organizations are more unique and diverse than ever before.  As leaders struggle to recruit new volunteers and employees, they must also focus on mentoring and training their emerging leaders; most of whom are from the Millennial generation.

Also known as Gen-Y, young people born between 1980 and 2000 continue to make a profound impact on the workplace environment in the short time they’ve been working. Workplace experts say they’re unlike previous generations, and that’s forcing a cultural shift on companies and managers. And on the heels of the Millennial generation, a new group of young workers looms on the horizon.  What do we know about them?

As more Boomers retire, younger employees will become an increasingly vital segment in the nonprofit sector.  What motivates them at work?  What makes the Millennial and post-Millennial generations different from previous generations?  How do nonprofit leaders leverage the strengths of their youngest members?  How do Millennial leaders engage with workers and volunteers from older generations?

Managers – bring your team!  Staff – invite your manager!

You’ll want to join us to:
  • Hear research representing the Millennial and post-Millennial generation, and how they differ from previous generations
  • Learn specific actions nonprofit managers can take to enhance their proficiency in leading, and mentoring their youngest employees.
  • Have the opportunity for multi-generation groups to discuss key issues from this presentation in an informal setting.
