"Are we making a difference?"
"What impact are we having?"
"Are those we serve better off for our efforts?"
Does your organization ask these questions? Do your funders ask these questions? Does your board? Nonprofits are told to be more evidence-based, to measure outcomes. This can be a daunting task not to mention expensive.
The Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership is excited to introduce its inaugural learning cohort on program evaluation. Over the course of six months participants will design, create and implement an evaluation for one of their programs.
The learning cohort will consist of no more than 10 organizations, with each organization afforded the opportunity to bring two participants.* Cohorts will participate in six months of interactive working sessions. Organizations will carry out the work and generate their own evaluation with the assistance of the Midwest Center's evaluation team and senior fellow network. At the end of the program, organizations will have a completed program evaluation and a plan for ongoing assessment. The cost for the series is $1,500 per organization.
Our first learning cohort will begin in October 2017 and run through April 2018 and consist of 6 half day sessions and a final celebratory event.
October 19 & 21, 2017 - Introduction to evaluation. Determine the question you wish to study for your organization's needs. Conduct a literature review of your topic of study
December 1, 2017 - Design your study. Based on knowledge gained in your literature review determine who you will collect data from, what data your will collect, design your collection instrument(s) and explore analysis requirements.
February 22 & 23, 2018 - After data has been collected, learn how to analyze, interpret and report your findings.
April 20, 2018 - How to extend your evaluation design to other programs. Share your results. Celebrate.
