8:30-9:15— Gathering the data you want: How to ask the best questions of your audience
Speaker: Marnette Falley — UBM
The first step in great data presentation is effective data gathering. This workshop will help you figure out the kind of data you want, the demographics you need to gather to drill down into your responses for analysis, what power questions to include and how to evaluate the questions you’re thinking of asking to maximize the accuracy of the final data set.

9:20-10:05— By the numbers: A breakdown of Google Fusion Tables for data interpretation
Speaker: Jim Lucy — Penton Media
Are you a bit of a Map Geek? Want to put finally put that Geography minor to good use? Or do you want to learn how to use maps to provide your online and print audiences with demographic info or other data on the local metro, county or state level? This workshop will teach you how to use the free Google Fusion mapping tool to display data such as population, employment, sales, housing starts, types of companies and other info in an interactive mapping format that looks great in a digital format and isn’t hard to master.

10:10-10:55— Doodles you can use: Why you should give this visual content presentation a chance
Speakers: Alison Fulton, Farm Journal,  Portia Stewart, and Katie James — UBM
Brain research shows when you combine words and images, you retain more than 65% of what you heard after 72 hours. But if you only listened, retention drops to 10%. This workshop will tackle sketchnoting and why you should give this highly-visual content presentation a try including:
1)      discussion of what and how to sketchnote
2)      structure and layout,
3)      and tips for curating the best content to include in your doodle.

11:00-11:45— The one that got away: B2B social media fish stories to get your followers and fans engaged
Speaker: Marc Vasquez, APR— UMB Financial Corporation
You’ve got the data. You know your demographic. Your creativity is rearing to go. What now? This session will educate you on how to weave that data into a compelling story, determining the best vehicle to launch that story and what to do after you set sail toward keeping them hooked.
