Midwest Small Business Finance Annual Meeting

Former leader of Marion Labs Jim McGraw will be the keynote speaker for the Midwest Small Business Finance Annual Meeting Friday, Feb. 24. Now an author and international leadership mentor, McGraw will talk about “Leadership Building Blocks for Success” during his comments.

The event will start at 11:30 a.m. at Embassy Suites by Hilton Kansas City International Airport, 7640 NW Tiffany Springs Parkway, Kansas City.

The luncheon will also include recognition of three businesses that have successfully grown with help from MSBF: The Corner Café, Jamie Miller Hair Parlour and Pro Circuit.

McGraw served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Marion Labs for 16 years and chair of the Kauffman Foundation for 14 years. Now devoted to sharing his skills, knowledge and experience with schools and entrepreneurship groups, he has founded the Leadership, Empathy and the Power of Persuasion (LEAPP) program to boost productivity and profits in almost any organization.

McGraw has authored several books, including “Leadership, Empathy and the Power of Persuasion,” “Skills for Success,” “Skills for Greater Sales Success,” and “Reflections on a Wonderful Life.” He publishes a monthly newsletter entitled “Reflections” and consults with businesses, civic organizations and universities.

Founded in 1982 as the Clay/Platte Development Corporation and an affiliate of the Clay County Economic Development Council, MSBF is the region's only recipient of the National Certified Business Development Company of the Year award from the SBA.
