Starting a business takes more than an idea. It calls for a little grit and a lot of planning.

KCSourceLink can connect you with low- and no-cost programs and classes to set your venture up for success. Experts right here in Kansas City can help you develop an entrepreneurial mindset, create a legit business model and plan for a thriving business.

Here, you’ll find classes, coaching opportunities and trainings from KCSourceLink Resource Partners. Did we mention these programs are available at no or low cost? After all, the focus is on a strong local economy – and you’re an important piece of that puzzle.

ELEVATIONLAB™ New Venture

Who’s it for? Aspiring entrepreneurs who want a realistic perspective on whether or not people want to buy what they want to sell.

This five-week class is fast paced, interactive and engaging. The course offers an accelerated timeline for entrepreneurs to get their businesses started as soon as possible. Group activities and coaching from professional business counselors help participants develop their business plans. Materials include FastTrac, GrowthWheel® and other activities.

When: Tuesdays 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., July 27 - Aug. 24 or Oct. 5 - Nov. 2

SCORE KC Business Planning Tools

Who’s it for? Entrepreneurs who are just starting out, existing businesses that are adding products or ventures in industries that are experiencing significant changes. It’s most of us, really.

Learn how to use the value proposition canvas and business model canvas. These easy-to-use, one-page tools bring clarity to the planning process. You can use them to create a plan for funding, marketing, product development or any need you face.

SCORE KC Simple Steps for Starting Your Business – Basics

Who’s it for? People who are dreaming of starting their own businesses.

This workshop will teach you how to test your business idea. You’ll also learn what factors determine a startup’s success. Participants will also learn the fundamentals of forming and organizing a business, how to market and managing cash flow.

Women’s Business Center LaunchU

Who’s it for? Entrepreneurs who want to develop a startup plan that will help them succeed in business.

This eight-week program helps position business owners so that they can fund their businesses and develop a network of resources. Subject matter experts like accountants, lawyers and marketing professionals share their knowledge.

When: Mondays 6 - 9 p.m., Sept. 20 - Nov. 9

Cost: $75 for individuals who meet low- to moderate-income guidelines; sliding scale tuition for all other participants
