WYCO’s Toolbox Program Offers No-Cost Services to Entrepreneurs, Small Businesses

When you need tools to get the job done, where do you head? The toolbox, right?

Well, for entrepreneurs in Wyandotte County in Kansas who need some help, they can now head to The Toolbox: Small Business Resource Center, which provides free virtual support with planning, registering, funding, operating and growing your business — and all those services are offered in multiple languages. (Plus, a physical location is coming soon when COVID-19 guidelines allow it.)

The Toolbox takes the intimidating checklist of starting and operating a business and distills it into the essentials through private one-on-one small-business coaching (like with PPP applications).

New PPP opportunity: Currently, The Toolbox’s Paycheck Protection WYCO PREP Program is ready to help WYCO small businesses successfully apply for PPP funds. This resource is open to:

  • independent contractors

  • subcontractors

  • 1099 workers

  • those who are self-employed

  • single-owner small businesses

(Check this program out because you might qualify for PPP even if you don’t give yourself a paycheck or have employees.) Through the WYCO PPP Prep Program, accountants can help you with gathering and preparing documentation as well as completing the application for funds. And best of all, there is no cost to you through this program.

The last day to apply for PPP is May 31, 2021, (or earlier if funds run out), so hurry and take advantage of this opportunity before the deadline.

Looking for something else from The Toolbox? Check out these other services and assistance. (Interpreters are available for all resources.):

  • Technical support through one-on-one counseling to help you start or expand your business

  • Computer/internet access

  • Business plan templates

  • Permits/licenses/zoning

  • MBE and WBE certification and procurement opportunities

  • Google Places/Google website/Canvas

  • Guidance on how to finance your business

  • Individual Development Accounts and WyCo Loves Local grant application support

  • Connections to other resources in the entrepreneurial ecosystem
