10 Reasons to Submit an Event for Global Entrepreneurship Week - KC 2020
Get ready to showcase your expertise and awesomeness during the biggest celebration of entrepreneurship—Global Entrepreneurship Week - Kansas City
(aka #GEWKC). Yes, this year will look a little different, but it will still be as awesome as ever.
GEWKC 2020 is Nov. 17 - Nov. 19, but if you want to submit your proposal for a Prime-Time Event, we'll need your event submissions by Friday, Sept. 25. If you’re interested in throwing your hat (and talent and devotion and awesomeness) into the ring, don't wait: Submit your GEWKC Prime-Time event proposal now.
"Submitting an event proposal for GEWKC gives an entrepreneur an opportunity to be seen as an expert in their field or industry,” says Donnetta Watson of The National Black MasterMind Group. “But most importantly, you will be helping other entrepreneurs with your knowledge and expertise. GEWKC is a great place for entrepreneurs to network, glean from experienced entrepreneurs and see for themselves what's happening in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.”
So what exactly are Prime-Time Events? Local entrepreneurs and business owners told us the topics they want to know about to help them start, recover and rebuild their businesses. So we have those topics slotted at specific days and times. Just select the topic you'd like to present, and then fill in the event details and your bio.
Host a GEWKC Prime-Time Event featuring these topic areas and show entrepreneurs how to:
start a business
grow a business
diversify their workforce
pivot and gain new customers
bolster their marketing
prep their business for funding
obtain business certifications
de-stress and stay healthy
leverage design thinking
exit their business strategically
And you know what’s cool about GEWKC Prime-Time Events? Anyone, anywhere can watch, quite possibly making the stage for this year's GEWKC the biggest ever.
“One of the best things about the KC entrepreneurial community is our desire to collaborate and learn from each other,” says Lauren Conaway, GEWKC organizer and founder of InnovateHER. “By submitting a proposal to GEWKC, you’re signaling your willingness to help the entrepreneur next to you by sharing your wisdom and helping them succeed.”
If none of the GEWKC Prime-Time Event topics fit your fancy, stay tuned for the call for Community Event submissions, which open Oct. 19. These can be in-person, virtual or a mix of both. Community Events will be on the official GEWKC agenda but will not be on the online platform that hosts GEWKC Prime-Time Events.
GEWKC (despite its "KC") also invites entrepreneur experts from neighboring states, and so as we look across the states of Missouri, Kansas and beyond, we want to give you the opportunity to submit a Prime-TIme Event proposal for this year's GEWKC.
We need your help to make the 13th year of everyone’s favorite celebration of the art, craft and splendor of business better than ever.
"I’m excited to connect with entrepreneurs at all levels and provide the resources they need to maximize the success of existing and emerging small businesses," says Carolina Vargas with the SBA - Kansas City.
If you’re still wondering if the juice is worth the squeeze, here are 10 reasons why you should host GEWKC 2020.
1. Get on the biggest GEWKC stage ever
For 2020, GEWKC’s digitally focused platform is available to anyone, anywhere—and anytime. (Spoilers: Reason No. 2.) Those presenting a Prime-Time Event have the opportunity to reach even more attendees than ever.
2. Reach folks after GEWKC ends
Entrepreneurs asked, and we listened. For the first time ever, GEWKC is recording all of its Prime-Time Events and will make them available to anyone after GEWKC 2020 ends. This way, your content can reach and help more people beyond Nov. 17-19.
3. Entrepreneurs need YOUR expertise
We asked entrepreneurs and small business owners what their businesses need right now to start, grow and be more resilient for the future. These responses informed our topic areas for live GEWKC Prime-Time Events, so you know you’ll have an engaged audience. Just select your topic and fill in your details and bio; your event proposal is ready to submit!
Here’s a list of topics you can present.
Plus, we know your head and heart are jam-packed with knowledge and insight. Now more than ever, entrepreneurs need your expertise. One for all and all for one!
4. It’s hassle-free
You do the fun part (imagining your event and gathering your talent), and we’ll do the tactical stuff (setting up the online platform and building the schedule). It’s super easy.
5. Meet like-minded business pros
Just because GEWKC 2020 is going virtual doesn’t mean there won’t be networking. In addition to interactive workshops, we have a bunch of innovative and fun networking opportunities. Plus, you always have the opportunity to connect with those who view your session.
6. Give back to #startupKC
Someone helped you at one time or another. GEWKC is an easy way to give back and support aspiring entrepreneurs and small businesses during a time when we all could learn a skill, try something new and get inspired.
7. Show off your creativity
All ideas are welcomed and encouraged. Individual speakers and presenters, panels and workshops all work well. This is your chance to spice up the scene.
8. Expand your reach
This year, we’re not only featuring speakers (that’s you) from across the KC metro, but also across Missouri, Kansas and neighboring states. GEWKC 2020 is a great opportunity to reach more people than ever.
9. Bring your crew into the #startupKC family
If you know folks who need to be involved in the entrepreneurial community but aren’t yet, GEWKC is a great way to get started!
10. It’s gonna be fun!
It’s time to get the word out. Prime-Time Event submissions are due Sept. 25. If you know anyone who needs to be involved with GEWKC, share this blog post. And don’t hesitate to reach out with questions at this link.
