What You Need to Know for GEWKC 2019

We want all our #GEWKC attendees to have the best experience possible. We hope this quick list helps you enjoy every minute of the week.

Register: Sign in at the #GEWKC registration desk at the Black Archives of Mid-America – Kansas City to get your badge for the week. You only do this once. (We’ll send a follow-up email after GEWKC to show you how to connect with KC entrepreneurship and resources.)

Name Badge: Wear it! It’s your ticket to #GEWKC events and will earn you food and drink discounts at participating locations in the 18th and Vine District.

Tracks: #GEWKC events follow five tracks:

  • Makers and Creators: those who make and create
  • Startups: those considering a new business venture or those navigating early-stage business ownership
  • Scalers: those who’ve survived the startup phase and are eager to grow their business
  • Social Enterprise: those who want to maximize their business for social and environmental well-being
  • Tech: those who use tech to disrupt an industry and need resources and funding fast

Off-site Events: Most events are in the 18th and Vine District. “Off-site” in the GEWKC agenda means an event is at another KC location. Visit the online calendar for specifics and details for each event.

Tweeting/Facebooking/’Gramming: Absolutely. Tag your posts, quotes and pics with #GEWKC. Do note that GEWKC is a public event.

We're taking pictures! Do note that GEWKC is a public event. By participating, you consent to the recording of your likeness, image, and/or voice and authorize KCSourceLink to use photographs, video, and audio recordings containing your likeness, image, and/or voice in any medium for any purpose.

Wi-Fi: The network will be limited to encourage everyone to be actively engaged at this year's event.

Presentations: If you registered for events at gewkc.org, each host can tell you how to connect with them after #GEWKC.

Need #GEWKC help? The folks wearing the purple GEWKC shirts can help you find someone who’ll connect you with the resources you need to start or grow your business.

Getting around 18th and Vine, Base Camp for GEWKC 2019

Most GEWKC events will be held throughout KC's 18th and Vine District, with four buildings hosting a majority of the events.

Look for daily agendas in the main areas of each of the four color-coded buildings to see which rooms that are hosting events in each time slot.

Plus, refer to the map for parking instructions and locations for food and drink. Those locations noted on the map have special deals for GEWKC attendees who show their name badge. (So wear that badge every day!)
