Who You Should Know: Rebecca Gubbels, Business Consultant Extraordinaire

We love Rebecca Gubbels, a business and program consultant at the University of Missouri–Kansas City’s Small Business & Technology Development Center. And apparently, so does America’s Small Business Development Center, which recently named Rebecca the 2017 Missouri State Star (aka the state’s outstanding business counselor for her contributions to local business growth.)

If you’ve ever taken a class with Rebecca, this accolade comes as no surprise to you. If you haven’t taken a class with Rebecca, let’s change that. Rebecca is teaching FastTrac® NewVenture™ starting on August 1. If you’re thinking about starting a business and need help laying the groundwork, you need to sign up for this class. (If you live or own a young business in Kansas City, Missouri, you really need to sign up for this class—you can save hundreds of dollars with a UBGI scholarship.)

Rebecca’s business savvy comes from years of working in banking, and her tough love approach is one of a kind.

“Rebecca is one of the best and brightest business consultants we have,” said Greg Tucker, Missouri SBTDC state director. “She is not just competent and knowledgeable, she’s energetic, creative and always maintains a great sense of humor. Rebecca has the unique ability to see through the surface and get to the heart of thorny business, financial, strategic or personnel issues.”

Greg’s not the only one who thinks Rebecca is good at her job. She receives remarkably high marks from her students. An entrepreneur reports that Rebecca’s know how helped him secure a much more lucrative relationship with his banker (“Twenty years of nothing but dum dum suckers at the drive thru—with one foot out the door, I finally feel like they want my business.”)

Many of Rebecca’s students believe that when you sign up for Rebecca’s class, she joins your team. Here’s what Anne Cull, president of ThinkViral, LLC., had to say about Rebecca’s impact on her business, “Rebecca has been a tremendous asset in helping me grow my solopreneur business into a real company with full time employees. This has not been easy but working with Rebecca has given me the clarity and courage I need to continue moving my business forward. She thoroughly understands the the life of an entrepreneur but always remains objective so her questions are thoughtful and thorough.”
