Business Mentor Opportunities Available in Kansas City

Business Mentor Opportunities Available in Kansas City

So you’re looking for a mentor? Kansas City is ripe with opportunities to help you connect with mentors who can give you the nudge you need to take your business farther, faster.

Mentors can play that critical role of trusted advisor for your startup or business, giving you perspective and challenging you to take the leap and push you to dream bigger.

Now is as good of a time as any to get a mentor in Kansas City—especially since the Helzberg Entrepreneurial Mentoring Program (HEMP) is accepting applications for mentees. (Don’t meet the thresholds for HEMP: keep scrolling. Other mentoring opportunities await and we’ll list all open apps further down.)

Becoming a mentee (or a mentor) at HEMP provides the experience of a lifetime—the ability to explore aspects of the entrepreneurial world that you never thought you’d have the opportunity to see. It creates a bond between professionals in all different aspects of business and many different industries. If you qualify for becoming a mentor or a mentee, don’t let this opportunity pass you by and apply today. (Applications are being accepted through August 1.)

Get a HEMP Mentor

Becoming a mentee at HEMP can be invaluable for your business and entrepreneurship experience. You will learn from some of the industry’s most influential and successful leaders and gain knowledge through their personal experiences. Current mentors include Henry Bloch of H&R Block, Jack Schmid of J. Schmid & Associates and Dave Lockton of Lockton Companies.

HEMP looks for mentees with businesses that are poised for growth. To become a mentee:

  • You must be the sole ultimate decision maker at your business for a minimum of three years.

  • Your business must generate $1-$100 million in annual revenue.

  • Your business must have a minimum of five full-time employees.

  • You must have a desire to substantially grow your business.

As a mentee, it is important that you display internal and external integrity and you must be willing to invest the time to meet with a mentor a minimum of twice per month and attend 75 percent of the events hosted by HEMP. The cost for mentees for the three-year program is $5,000 per year with a one-time application and self-assessment profile processing fee of $150.

Apply for the Helzberg Entrepreneurial Mentoring Program now.

Be a HEMP Mentor

Mentors provide knowledge through their personal experiences. Veteran business owners or top level executives who desire the ability to guide a CEO in the Kansas City metro area should apply now.

As a mentor, you would also be willing to

  • openly share business knowledge, both success and failures, with your mentee to help them mold their business plan.

  • meet with a mentee at least twice per month

  • Volunteer your time and expertise

  • attend 50% of the networking programs offered by HEMP, including the annual retreat. There are usually 1-2 events per month.

And it’s not all give. Becoming a mentor is an immensely rewarding experience that not allows you to help an entrepreneur, but also lets you learn from experiences you may not have had in your own business path and develop valuable leadership skills.

Apply for the Helzberg Entrepreneurial Mentoring Program now.

If for whatever reason HEMP is not the right fit for you and your business, fret not, there are plenty of other opportunities for you right now in Kansas City.
