We're headed to these awesome Techweek Kansas City events. See you there?
Techweek is coming to Kansas City, September 12–18, 2016. In case you’re not familiar with Techweek, it’s a week-long (heh) celebration of all things innovative technology. There’s the Big Data Summit, LaunchKC semi-finalist pitch competition, Entrepreneur Expo and so much more.
We’re leaving the office and heading out to support our Resource Partners and our community’s innovative tech entrepreneurs. Here’s the events we virtually circled on our Techweek schedule. Stop by, say hi and grab some knowledge while you’re there.
Techweek Kansas City Kick-Off Party
Monday, September 12 @ 6–9 p.m.
Our favorite words: Kansas City and party. Put those together, add Techweek and you’ve got the perfect combination of fun. Of course we’ll be there. Bring your quarters — this shindig’s at Up-Down, an arcade and craft beer bar. We’ll be huddled around the skee-ball machines.
KC Startup Village at Techweek Kansas City
Tuesday, September 13 @ 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
Meet the folks at the KC Startup Village (KCSV). It’s easily one of Kansas City’s coolest entrepreneurial communities and it so happens to be one of our Resource Partners. KCSV is an accelerator meets incubator meets coworking space meets laboratory creating an entire entrepreneurial neighborhood.
Big Data Summit
Wednesday, September 14 @ 8 a.m.–4 p.m.
Nestled in the middle of Techweek is the Big Data Summit. Learn about the latest and greatest on big data, including best practices, analytics and insights from professionals. This is a two day event featuring speakers from PinsightMedia+ (our Battle of the Brands 2016 winner), C2FO and Crunch Data, just to name a few.
Thursday, September 15 @ 10:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
We love entrepreneurs and we love new gadgets and ideas. Put those together and you get the Entrepreneur Expo. See the glory of entrepreneurship under the roof of one of Kansas City’s biggest historic landmarks, Union Station.
Tech Transfer as part of the larger tech ecosystem
Thursday, September 15 @ 10:45–11:30 a.m.
Our very own Jim Baxendale of Whiteboard2Boardroom (a program of the UMKC Innovation Center) is the presenter of this event. You bet we’re going to be there.
EdTech Meetup with The Lean Lab and #KCedu
Thursday, September 15 @ 5:30–7 p.m.
Our friends (and Resource Partner) over at the Lean Lab will be hosting an exhibition featuring local edtech geniuses demoing the latest in education technology with an emphasis on virtual and augmented reality. How will these new technologies transform the future of the classroom? Go to the EdTech Meetup and find out.
Friday, September 16 @ 8:15 a.m.–1 p.m.
There’s this grants competition going on right now called LaunchKC (maybe you’ve heard of it?) Tech entrepreneurs across the world compete for a $50,000 grant (with tons of extras like work space, mentorship and coaching). To say it’s a big deal is an understatement.
Friday, September 16 @ 3–5 p.m.
We finally get to find out which 10 techie entrepreneurs win the LaunchKC grants competition. You’ll want to be there to see who the next tech “it” people are.
It's gonna be a great week, grab your tickets now. Which events are on your Techweek wishlist? Is there a specific event you think we should go to?
And just in case you’re itching to be innovative right this second, shoot us some info over on our contact us page and we’ll be in touch ASAP with (free) resources you can use to get things started.
