Everyone is Welcome at the Mid-America Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce

mid america gay and lesbian chamber of commerce
The Mid-America Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce is an organization that advocates, promotes and facilitates the success of the LGBT business community and their allies in Kansas City (and beyond!) The Mid-America GLCC’s purpose is to create, identify and enhance business opportunities for LGBT and LGBT-friendly organizations.

What does all of that mean for you? How can you get involved? You’ve come to the right place.

Lance Pierce, owner of Karat Collaborative and VP of marketing and communications for the Mid-America GLCC, is here to share how you can join the community right away:

Get Started and Make New Friends

Each month the Mid-America GLCC hosts a B2B Network event to provide our community with the opportunity to build new partnerships and get to know professionals from around Kansas City who they may not otherwise meet. Our next event is coming up soon, please join us:

Learn from Business Experts

Navigating the business landscape can be uniquely difficult as an LGBT person. That’s why on the last Tuesday of each month we hold a MasterMinds session where our community unites to discuss the issues of a single business. In this safe environment we celebrate success, solve pressing issues, offer support and encouragement and gain valuable insights to expand and grow businesses. Please join us:

June MasterMinds
Tuesday, June 28, 7:30 to 9:00 a.m.
Bishop-McCann, 1701 Walnut, Kansas City, MO
Members only. (Become a member.)

Get Certified as an LGBT-Owned Business

If your business is at least 51 percent LGBT-owned, you are eligible for certification.

What’s the benefit? This certification earns members a place in the National GLCC’s supplier directory of more than 400 certified businesses. Corporations look to this directory to diversify their supplier base and award contracts to minority-owned businesses. You also gain access to the national network and educational opportunities.

The Many Benefits of Membership

The Mid-America GLCC has a multitude of programs to support the LGBT community in Kansas City, including the Barnes Leadership Series that gives participants the opportunity to learn from the Honorable Kay Barnes, former Kansas City, Missouri mayor; the annual Business Equality Conference where international speakers enlighten and inspire; and the C. Stephen Metzler Mentor Program where young leaders learn one-on-one from seasoned pros.

Here at Mid-America GLCC we work tirelessly to make a Kansas City a better and better place for LGBT-persons to do business. Please share this article with anyone who you believe needs it and join us at our July B2B Network on the 14th in Lenexa, Kansas. Cheers!
