Your Guide to Funding Your Business in Kansas City
Entrepreneurs and small business owners call KCSourceLink all the time looking for help to start and grow their businesses. One of our most popular requests (can you guess?): where can I find funding for my startup? Where can I find funding to grow my small business?
Wondering that yourself? Great news, you’ve come to the right place.
When it comes time to look for loans, seed funding or venture capital, a tricky part of the process is finding a funding source that fits your business type and stage. Where do you look to find funding when you just have an idea and need to build out a prototype? Who can you talk to when you’re ready for rollout capital? What if you need financing to expand your business, buy new equipment or purchase a building?
Meet the KCSourceLink Money Line, a breakout of our Resource Rail℠ that maps Kansas City’s funding continuum, from debt to venture capital, from inception through exit.
Now you can see all of the options available to you and know that when it comes time to take the leap and grow your business, KCSourceLink and our Resource Partners have your back.
Hop on the Money Line
Here’s how it works. First, find your entrepreneurial type in the legend on the right (here’s more info on the types.) Are you looking for seed or venture capital to accelerate your innovation-led business? Or maybe you’re looking for a microloan to buy new equipment or hire new folks for your microenterprise or Main Street business? Or perhaps you’re ready to go after the big loans for your second-stage business to export to new territories or expand to new markets.
Once you’ve found your entrepreneurial type, follow the green line to your business stage. There, you’ll find the stops, marked with your entrepreneurial type’s color, showing you who can best help with funding for your business’s needs.
And as always, if you’re not sure where you fit, don’t hesitate to give us a call at 816-235-6500 and we’ll help guide you (that’s what we’re here for).
