Shop Local This Holiday Season
Online, big box, national chains—you have a lot of options of where you spend your holiday dollars. This holiday season, we’re asking you to Shop Local.
Consider this: If the people of an average American city were to shift just 10 percent of their spending from chains to local businesses, it would bring an additional $235 million per year to that community’s economy.
That’s big impact for our communities. And that’s huge for our local economy.
Get tips to market your small business.
Stay tuned during December as we here at KCSourceLink share tips to help you market your local small business. Subscribe to our blog, follow us on Facebook and Twitter and be sure to sign up for our monthly newsletter.
In the meantime, show off your local. Use the hashtag #ShopLocalKC to share where we shop, eat and play local.
Choose Kansas City this holiday season.
Not sure where the local is? We can help there, too. We’ll be promoting local businesses right here in our blog and we have a handy map of local, independent retailers.
Before you head into a national retailer, think about how and where you could spend your holiday dollars at a local mom and pop or Kansas City small business. Because when you support your local small businesses, you support our local economy. Small businesses employ Kansas Citians and continue to invest in our community.
Spread the word.
It is vital to our local economy that you help get the word out about #ShopLocalKC. Spread the word to your friends, neighbors and the intimate throngs of Facebook friends, Instagram buddies and Twitter followers.
Let them know you’re choosing KC this holiday season with this post and hashtag:
