This Holiday Season, #ShopLocalKC
‘Tis the season to go shopping. And this season, we're partnering with some of our best buds to encourage you to spend their holiday dollars locally and patronize area merchants.
Here's what you can do:
- Shop local first. Choose KC independently owned stores over the big boxes whenever you can this holiday season.
- Use the shop local map. You can find those businesses on our shop local map.
- Tag your finds and photos with #ShopLocalKC. Let us know on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram where, what and why you shop local.
To help you get started, here are just a few events planned in the coming weeks that focus attention on local Kansas City companies.
Plaid Friday, Nov. 28
Plaid Friday Kansas City is a celebration of our unique and creative locally owned businesses here in the Kansas City Metro Area– an alternative to the big box store Black Friday. On Plaid Friday, community members and business owners are asked to wear their plaid and shift more of their holiday spending to locally owned businesses. The Crestwood Shops at 55th Street between Brookside Boulevard and Oak Street Kansas City, Mo. will serve as the Plaid Friday hub.
