Use the Library to Build Your Small Business Smarts

Meet Eric Petersen, lead librarian at the H&R Block Business & Career Center of the Kansas City Public Library. The Block Center is a dedicated service center for patrons who need resources for their market research, job hunt, grant writing and more. The H&R Block Business & Career Center is located on the third floor of Central Library, 14 W. 10th Street.

KC Library presents Small Business Smarts on June 22, 2013At the H&R Block Business & Career Center, we help entrepreneurs realize their dreams by helping them with their business research. Our research databases, business books, and financial literacy resources help entrepreneurs conduct market research, map consumer trends, investigate competitors and suppliers, write business plans and more.

In addition to providing research assistance, the Block Center is a referral service. We strive to be aware of the resources of other libraries and the many wonderful agencies that support entrepreneurship here in Kansas City.

With so much help available in and out of our library, it can be difficult to know just where to begin. We can help there, too.

On Saturday, June 22, from 9:30-11:30 a.m., I’ll be joined by Catherine Forment of KCSourcelink® and Barbara Caldwell of the Kansas City office of the Small Business Administration for a session on resources for entrepreneurs in Kansas City. I’ll talk about the Library’s resources and give a brief demonstration to show you how to do market research. Catherine and Barbara will share how you can tap the wealth of business-building resources in the Kansas City region.
