Welcome to #BuyKC

a B2C and B2B directory of local, independently owned businesses in the KC area.

The goal of the #BuyKC directory is to help any Kansas City business (restaurants and retailers; businesses who sell online or via ecommerce; businesses that sell products or services; B2B and B2C) promote their local businesses—all to help consumers and businesses spend their dollars with locally owned businesses. And you can get listed for free!

Why do we do this?
Because when you support local businesses, you strengthen our local economy. And we want to make your business easier to find and even more visible.

When does #BuyKC go live?
We’ll do a soft launch the week of Nov. 8.

What information will be listed in the directory?
Each businesses accepted into the directory will have a card listing your business name, whether you sell online or in-store (or both), a link to your website or online shopping URL and the photo of your business’s goods/services that you provided.

We’ll use the other information to help set up our search filters. What’s NOT public: Your phone number and email are for internal-use ONLY. (We need this to ask you follow up questions, but it will not be listed publicly.)

So let’s get your business in the directory!
Some things to keep in mind as you complete your application:

  • All BuyKC listings are free.
  • All businesses are welcome in the BuyKC directory as long as they are local, independently owned businesses in the Kansas City (bistate!) area (no franchises please).
  • If you provide an address, it will be mapped in our store locator. (So don’t include your home address.)
  • We highly recommend adding a photo of your products/services, where and as requested. Those BuyKC directory results that include a photo will be prioritized in our randomized listing.

If you do not have a physical store location, please put “online” in the address box. Be sure to include address, city, state and zip.
This could be your website, Facebook page, Instagram account, Google listing, Etsy store, etc. Please enter each on a separate row above.
This description will not be publicly displayed in your listing, but will help people search for your store in the directory.
Please provide a URL that points to where your logo may be downloaded. Logos should be at least 300px wide, and no more than 1MB in size.
Please provide a URL that points to where a photo may be downloaded. Other guidelines: should be at least 500px square, no more than 3MB in size and in jpg, gif or png format. Directory listings are randomized, with priority going to listings with a photo.
