Do you make $50,000 or below? Do you need tax help? Yes, to both questions qualifies you for help from the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

IRS-sponsored, VITA offers free tax help to hard-working taxpayers with incomes of $50,000 and below who cannot prepare their own tax returns. The tax clinic is sponsored in part by the UMKC legal clinic, a KCSourceLink partner.
How VITA Works
Certified volunteers sponsored by various organizations receive training to help prepare and electronically file basic tax returns in communities nationwide. VITA sites are generally located at community and neighborhood centers, libraries, schools, shopping malls and other convenient locations.
Tax Help for KC Taxpayers
Our VITA headquarters are located at the UMKC School of Law in the Law School Library.
Be warned and be early: People wishing to use VITA’s service should arrive at the Law School Library early because they can only serve a limited number of people during each session.
